Why people count down to 3:30
For a lot of students, 3:30 is the end of the school day. Many US high schools let out somewhere between 2:30 and 3:30, and plenty of elementary schools a little later, so 3:30 is the minute the last lesson ends, the buses load and practice starts.
It's also the end of a full early shift. A 7:00 start with a half-hour unpaid lunch reaches eight hours at exactly 3:30, which is why seven-to-three-thirty is a standard day on building sites, in hospitals and on factory floors.
