Why 1:30 matters
Half past one is when a lot of lunch hours end: a 12:30 lunch break is over at 1:30, and afternoon meetings, lessons and appointments often start on the half hour after it.
It's also a common early-dismissal time. On half days and early-release days many schools let out in the early afternoon, so 1:30 can be the countdown to the best bell of the week.
- On a 24-hour clock
- 1:30 PM is 13:30.
- In words
- Half past one, or “half one” in British English.
- At night?
- Type “1:30 am” in the box to count to half past one in the morning instead.
1:30 PM questions
How much time until 1:30?
The tiles show the hours, minutes and seconds left until 1:30 PM in your time zone, and the line below gives the total in minutes. After 1:30 PM it counts to tomorrow's.
Is 1:30 PM the same as 13:30?
Yes. On a 24-hour clock you add 12 to the afternoon hours, so 1:30 PM is 13:30 and 1:30 AM is 01:30.
Can I count to a different time?
Type any time into the box above — 1:15, 1:45, 2pm — and the countdown switches at once. How Long Until lists the most popular ones.
