How many school days are left?
The form shows the weekdays between today and your date as soon as you pick it. School calendars add holidays, breaks and teacher workdays that a countdown can't know, so subtract those for an exact count.

Does it count school days or calendar days?
Both, roughly: the countdown itself counts calendar days, and the form shows the Monday-to-Friday days in between. Holidays and breaks aren't known, so subtract those yourself.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is free and there is nothing to sign up for. The countdown lives entirely in its link, so anyone you send it to sees the same live clock without installing anything.
